About the work

Oregon State University needed a single, modern home for athletic and academic giving — a place where alumni and supporters could discover causes, give securely, and follow the impact of their gift. We partnered with the OSU Beaver Athletic Student Fund team to design and build a donor-first platform that replaced fragmented tools with a system the university now operates at scale.

The challenge

What stood in the way

OSU Advancement was running campaigns across a stack of disconnected tools — a CMS, a separate payment processor, manual reconciliation in spreadsheets, and email handed off to a third system. Every new fundraising drive meant a one-off page, a one-off form, and a one-off way for staff to track returns. Donors hit friction at every step, and the team couldn't see the full picture of who was giving to what.

The approach

How we tackled it

  1. Mapped the donor journey end-to-end — from first touch through stewardship — so the platform was designed around the people using it, not the org chart.
  2. Built a modular content system so the advancement team can launch a new campaign or fund without engineering involvement.
  3. Wired payments, CRM, and email into a single pipeline so every gift is reconciled automatically and reportable in real time.
  4. Held the build to WCAG 2.1 AA throughout, since accessibility is non-negotiable for a public university.
